When the sun dips into horizon and darkness takes over the pastel shaded skies, the city’s sunbathed locals head to their homes to take showers and get dressed to the nine for a night out in the city.

Rio has a perfect laissez faire to evening activities- the mob generally sets out on the street around 10pm to sip in lagers and grab some lip-smacking starters at a traditional botequim, before heading to their favorite dance bars, street parties and live performance venues.

The Portuguese influence is not only seen in the capital’s marvelous architecture, but the flair of the past ruler is still scents the aromatic dish of Brazil.

In the bars, peers enjoy casual vibe as they jointly savor the chilled beer and crunch the fresh finger food called as salgados. The most desirable food includes the pastries, dabbed with cheese and meats, kebabs and pork slices. Bar do Adao in the Lapa area, offers the most delightful pastries in the whole capital, which can be permeated with rich variety of ingredients such as palmetto and mozzarella.

Rio has an elegant dance culture that has flourished for more than a century now.
Samba, the city’s pride, evolved in the colonial era, in the late 19th century, and it still runs through the veins of the Brazilians. The best place to witness the lively, vibrant dance is Carioca de gema in Lapa, an atmospheric venue with two storeys, where you can dance the night away with a playlist supporting some of the best samba bands in the nation.

Lapa is the most popular bar strip in the mainland. Previously an unobtrusive venue where struggling artists and those with limited means ventured, it has now transformed in to the most ostentatious part of the capital after the dark. There are hundreds of bars to your delight. The one with the most cult following is Rio Scenarium, popular for its antique interiors and enchanting live music.
